Usually when people speak about the “luck of the Irish” they are talking about having bad luck. Most people confuse the phrase and think it means having good luck when actually it means having really bad luck.

However, there is one Irish man in the US who would argue that in his case the “luck of the Irish” actually means having good luck. This man is 28 year-old Brendan Riordan who had an amazing scratchcard experience in New York that made him $10 million richer.

Riordan is an Irish immigrant to the US who shares a home with his parents in Yonkers, New York. The family immigrated to the US nine years ago and has been very active in the Irish-American community in New York.

The winning lottery scratch card was not a planned purchase. Riordan’s mother told the Irish Central newspaper that she gave her son some money for his birthday, which he used to buy himself several scratch cards.

One of the scratch cards Riordan bought was the Win For Life Spectacular instant win game. The top prize on this scratch card is worth over $10 million and Riordan was lucky to be in possession of the top winning scratch card.

Riordan said that he recently gave up smoking and was investing the money he was saving since he quit smoking on playing different lottery games and is planning on continue playing them even after his big win.
